Description
SAIC is seeking a System Safety Engineer to provide technical support to a government customer at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida
- Develop and maintain a program-by-program set of tailored range safety requirements
- Conduct system safety evaluation of satellite vehicle (SV) program, launch vehicle integration and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) plans, procedures and safety documentation (MSPSP, Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Reports, etc.) for compliance with applicable federal, state and range safety requirements
- Review best practices and recommend ways to apply those practices to range safety requirements
- Support program status meetings and attend working groups, as required
- Conduct and support facility readiness walk-downs prior to SV arrival and hazardous operations
- Provide safety surveillance/monitoring of all SV pre-launch hazardous operations and ensure hazards are properly mitigated
- Provide technical and programmatic support for any near miss and/or mishap investigation related to SV program
- Support facility modification efforts to identify any potential safety impacts to SV programs and associated processing activities
- Maintain System Safety Risk Management modules in Government provided tools
- Level I and II Fire Inspector Certification from an accredited program
Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; Master’s Degree in Engineering desired
- 7+ years launch system safety experience
Clearance:
- Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret SCI clearance with a CI poly
