SAIC has an opening for a Systems Engineer Senior Principal to support the Test and Evaluation (T&E) of U.S. Navy surface ships and weapon systems for Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems Test and Evaluation Division (PEO IWS 1TE) for ship combat systems test and evaluation at the Navy Yard in Washington DC. This is a 100% remote position. 

Your work will contribute to the success for AEGIS and other combat systems testing within the PEO IWS 1TE portfolio, which includes test planning and execution of Combat Systems Ships Qualification Trials (CSSQT), Developmental Testing (DT) and Operational Testing (OT). You will act as a senior customer liaison for Test and Evaluation strategy implementation from the Virginia Beach, VA office location. 

Typical Responsibilities: 

  • Provide senior subject matter expertise to identify system level requirements for verification and validation. 
  • Define resources needed to test system requirements. 
  • Involvement in test planning, resource coordination, and test execution and reporting. 
  • Identify the type, quantity and timing of surrogates needed; identify and communicate T&E requirements. 
  • Support test execution. 
  • Propose alternative approaches when desired resources are not available. 
  • Act as the technical advisor to PEO IWS 1TE on any test events and provide SME support where needed. 
  • Liaise with program offices, OTF, DOT&E and other SYSCOMs as required. 
  • Provide technical reviews of test schedules, assessment artifacts, position papers, white papers, test plans and program briefs. 
  • Support various working groups and meetings by facilitating meetings, developing meeting minutes, executive  summaries, and capturing and tracking action items. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and fourteen (14) years or more of related experience; Master’s degree and twelve (12) years or more of related experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more of related experience. 

Required Security Clearance: 

  • Active Top Secret security clearance required. U.S. citizenship required.

Required Skills: 

  • Operational and Technical knowledge of US Navy Ship Systems and programs. 
  • Comfortable briefing senior level Navy Leadership. 
  • Strong technical writing proficiency. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project). 
  • Previous U.S. Navy Active Duty in Senior Enlisted or Officer Positions. 
  • Familiarity with DoD T&E ranges. 
  • Familiarity with DoD systems engineering processes. 
  • Experience in writing TEMPs, CDDs, Test Plans or other testing documentation. 

Target salary range: $75,001 - $100,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
