SAIC is seeking to fill an opening for a Space Enterprise System Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) services to an IC customer. The customer organization we support provides the system enterprise architecting, analysis, and system of systems engineering solutions that determine the current and future national space systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating and supporting enterprise requirements, CONOPS, and architectures in the remote sensing and protection domains; supporting enterprise and system level requirements development for future systems; overseeing the allocation and closure of acquisition-level requirements with developers; participation in readiness events in support of enterprise, system and acquisition-level ground milestones; leading and supporting project planning; assessing schedule and risk; generating and presenting engineering briefings; and interfacing with numerous customers
- Working across multiple Directorates and Offices to identify and define future space capability needs
- Frequent interaction with government, SETA, FFRDC, and external stakeholders
- Identifying and defining future space capability needs
- Identifying key architecture and system level trades
- Developing strategies in support of IC and Department of Defense (DoD) architectures
- Assessing the performance of current and future architecture concepts
- Providing technical and programmatic guidance to the architecture and system level requirements process
- Developing system architecture models to capture the holistic perspective within the context of a larger enterprise
- Preparing briefings for senior decision makers
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline with at least fourteen (14) years of relevant experience with ten (10) being at the Chantilly IC Customer; Masters and twelve (12) years experience; PhD and nine (9) years experience
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Understanding of the intelligence community and customer domain, along with a strong focus on core systems engineering processes in support of end-to-end mission and services closure
- Proven experience with technical fundamentals in IC space collectors, command and control, mission control, and mission processing
- Expert-level proficiency with use of system architectures to support senior level enterprise decision making
- Proficiency with system architecture and engineering tools and frameworks (e.g., DoDAF, UAF)
- Proven experience with the use of architecting across IC
- Ability to recommend space enterprise architecture tradeoffs with system architectures, impacts, and advancement
- Proven experience in development and use of modeling for system architecture and engineering solutions
- Experience with lifecycle readiness from architecture concept development and trade-offs, through system decommissioning
- Expertise in mission technical capabilities and system performance analysis and assessment
- Experience identifying user needs and gaps, identifying potential solutions, and assessing/analyzing alternatives
- Experience in supporting Requirements Engineering, CONOPS development, and system integration to accommodate End to End Systems Engineering
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer focused and capable of representing the customer in community forums
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline
- Experience with IC customer’s Request for Change (RFC) process and the Engineering Review Board process
- Expert-level understanding of core systems engineering and analysis disciplines and processes
- Knowledge of SIGINT and GEOINT remote sensing systems, protection, and overall space and ground architecture including mission management and/or mission processing functions
- Integration and enterprise closure experience within overall customer domain
- Detailed knowledge of customer's mission and overall space and ground architecture
- Experience in Cameo, and SysML applications
- Prior US military and/or IC customer experience
