Description

SAIC is looking for a Client Safety Engineer to support a NASA program. SMAEC II has a rewarding position supporting the NASA Safety and Mission Assurance Engineering Contract (SMAEC II) at the Johnson Space Center in Houston helping to continue our exploration of space. Come join our team and help us continue the mission of space exploration working with Environmental Control and Life Support Systems Engineering.

Job Duties:

  • Perform system safety analyses of hardware and software in a variety of systems for payloads/experiments.
  • Develop safety data, hazard reports, and other safety documentation, as needed.        
  • Utilize technical and safety review and documentation analysis techniques to include fault tree analyses, failure modes and hazardous effects analyses, and other techniques as required.
  • Prepare and/or updating safety assessment/hazard reports and risk assessment reports. 
  • Prepare safety assessment/hazard reports, and technical data packages and presentation materials.
  • Conduct or review safety assessments of new, updated, and/or modified hardware and software.

Qualifications

 Required Education: 

BS degree in Engineering or related Science/Technical field (Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred) and 2 years of experience or a Masters and 0 years of experience.

Required Skills:

  • NASA system flight safety review process experience.
  • Experience with direct participation in conducting and documenting space system safety review.
  • Familiarity with the NASA organization and with the International Space Station (ISS) subsystems and components.
  • An understanding of system safety hazards analysis process.
  • An understanding of NASA Handbook 51721.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with customers, peers, and management.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite of Tools to prepare reports, presentations, and charts.
  • Knowledge and use of personal computer with typical business software.

Clearance: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. 

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
