SAIC is seeking an Experienced Systems Engineer to provide expert advice to senior Government leadership regarding technical and programmatic strategies to operate, sustain, and upgrade an existing Ground Segment for a Space-Based System. You will play a crucial role in providing recommendations translating mission needs into an actionable architecture. 

This position is on the Horizon contract, based in El Segundo, CA. It supports the Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program Office within the Space Systems Command's Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power Program Executive Office. 

Your primary responsibilities will involve performing activities to develop and implement an advanced Ground Segment, including: concept of operations formulation; requirements definition, analysis and engineering; system architecting; system analysis and design; development of interface and data architecture; validation and verification; systems integration; system and network operations performance analysis; lifecycle cost analysis and estimation; decision analysis; and physical configuration analysis. You have an in-depth experience with DoD program acquisition processes and documentation. You will interact and coordinate daily with numerous stakeholders (Program Managers, Contracting Officers, System Engineers, and external/partner organizations).

Fun stuff you will do on the job:

  • Coordinate with external programs and agencies that interface with the GSSAP Ground Segment to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance 
  • Coordinate within GSSAP Space Segment and Advanced Concepts integrated program teams to ensure all space vehicle and future capabilities are fully realized and available to the warfighter and data consumers
  • Support On Orbit Checkout and Verification of new Space Vehicles when they are launched

    Qualifications

    This Is You:

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 9 years of relevant experience (4 years of additional experience may be used in lieu of degree) 
    • 9 years of Technical program management experience
    • 9 years of experience in Software Systems Engineering, Design, and Architecture Development
    • Must have an in-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable) 
    • Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartment Information and Special Access Programs and willing to consent to a Polygraph examination

    You will wow us even more if you have experience with the following: 

    • A Masters Degree with and technical pursuit and experience with:
      • Major Weapons Systems Acquisitions
      • Space Control mission area
    • Professional Certifications such as INCOSE CSEP, PMI PMP, etc.

    Target salary range: $150,001 - $175,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

    Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
