SAIC is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support our Unmanned Air System (UAS) Support Equipment (SE) team located in Lakehurst, NJ.  

This position is contingent upon award news expected this Fall 2023.

An active Secret clearance is required.

General Overview:

  • Develops static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. 
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors and 3-5 years or more experience
  • Active Secret clearance is required

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with design, development, and maintenance of water cooling/thermal management systems for large machinery, including development of test procedures based on project requirements.  
  • Well versed in development of piping schematics and analysis of piping systems.  Familiar with functions of pumps, accumulators, various types of valves, filtration, and motor operated valves.  
  • Collection of quantitative empirical data and an ability to analyze and interpret that data.  
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings of complex parts and systems.  Good understanding and practice in designing and implementing bolted joints.  
  • Ability to function independently in a test and shipboard environment with personnel from varying backgrounds and experience.
