Job Description


SAIC is currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our Unmanned Air System (UAS) Support Equipment (SE) team located in Lakehurst, NJ.  

This position is contingent upon award news expected this Fall of 2023.

An active Secret clearance is required.

General Overview:

  • Develops static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. 
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. 



  • Bachelors and 3-5 years or more experience 
  • An Active Secret clearance is required


  • Experience with design, development, and maintenance of hydraulic and complex mechanical systems, motors, and generators, including development of test procedures based on project requirements OR experience with design, development, and maintenance of turbomachinery or complex rotating machinery, including development of test procedures based on project requirements.
  • Well versed with solid modeling using CREO Parametric (preferred) or other solid modeling program, and development, review, and geometric dimensioning and tolerance of engineering drawings.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings of complex parts and systems.  Good understanding and practice of fatigue and fracture mechanics, failure and root cause analysis, and collection of quantitative empirical data leading into development of models and analyses.  
  • Ability to function independently in a manufacturing, test, and shipboard environment with personnel from varying backgrounds and experience.
