SAIC is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to provide design engineering support to the Unmanned Air System (UAS) Support Equipment Branch at NAVAIR Lakehurst, NJ.  Tasks involve requirements development, review of designs and design changes, support of acquisition packages, product source selection, testing of support equipment, and all relevant technical data and documents related to support equipment for the UAS. 

This is a hybrid-remote position requiring a minimum of 2 days onsite in Lakehurst, NJ. Open to candidates local to the area. 

Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. 

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Engage with program IPTs to align aircraft Support Equipment (SE) and Air Vehicle / Control Segment capability deployments, to identify/resolve SE issues, and to influence aircraft system design for optimal supportability.
  • Responsible for the development,  flow down, and evaluation of SE system requirements for Commercial Off-the Shelf (COTS) items and Peculiar Support Equipment (PSE)
  • Responsible for overseeing and leading of development testing, including development of test plans, procedures and reports for verification of the SE design.  Familiarization with MIL-STD-810 is desirable.
  • Responsible to interface with key stakeholders to identify and resolve emergent engineering issues.
  • Reviewing and developing Support Equipment Requirements Documents (SERDs)
  • Evaluating Technical Specifications and Operational Manuals
  • Creating acquisition and procurement documentation and development of
  • Statement of Works (SOWs)
  • Reviewing Drawing Packages, with the understanding of Circuit Diagrams/Schematics
  • Reviewing and development of Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) Documentation
  • Drafting responses to Engineering Investigation (EIs), and determining root cause analysis
  • Performing Trade Studies 
  • Travel 20-25% may be required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Computer) from an accredited college or university and at least two (2) years of experience, 6 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience with bringing designs to fabrication, test, creating operating instructions, and user/maintenance manuals
  • Experience providing technical support of products
  • Experience with test setup and design
  • Willing to travel to support product development, test, and in service support
  • Physically able to climb on and into aircraft spaces
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with 3D modeling / AutoCAD assembly and drawing creation
    • Willing to learn Creo if not currently experienced with it
  • Knowledge of Aviation and Air Vehicle Support Equipment
  • Reverse Engineering
  • Experience with Air Vehicle maintenance systems, Aviation operations and diagnostics
  • Familiar with the DoN Systems Engineering Process and the DoN Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) policy and process.
  • Familiarization with MIL-STD-810 is desirable.
