Description

Are you a Chief Engineer who likes to support satellite ground systems process integrity, scope execution, system cloud migration and architecture modernization across multiple technical disciplines to deliver engineering, development, integration and sustainment of numerous state-of-the-art satellite ground systems? Well here at SAIC we support the Innovation and Prototyping and Enterprise Ground Services branches of the Space Systems Command (SSC) under the SZI and BCT Deltas that allow you to do just that! 

On this contract, the Engineering, Development, Integration and Sustainment (EDIS) team operates and sustains ground system networks and architects the evolution toward a modern, flexible, standardized ground system. In your new role here, you will get to work closely with the customer chief engineer, and EDIS technical staff to address ground system requirements for various mission partners. We are looking for you to provide input to the customer’s architecture and assess cross-domain architectures to analyze and incorporate modernization strategies and deliver high-quality recommendations/decision points that support products and the space acquisition enterprise. This is a fast pace / high tempo position working out of Kirtland, AFB NM with exciting opportunities to grow your career.

Fun stuff you will do on the job:

  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to execute rapid development of ground systems
  • Ensure the technical strength of our team and the technical integrity and quality of our deliverables
  • Guide systems engineering processes and facilitate technical trades engagements
  •  Engage and collaborate across government, SETA, FFRDC, and mission partners to bring the best solutions to our customers
  •  Apply engineering standards ensuring compliance with customer and industry requirements.   Assist customer in demonstration of compliance with technical standards, effective engineering processes, mission assurance, design assurance, parts-processes-materials programs, quality, audit and internal integration, test and verification activities
  •  Assist in migration of existing ground systems into a cloud based structure at multiple classification levels across multiple mission partners

Qualifications

This is you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 18 years of related experience with an emphasis on mission integration, satellite flight, ground systems and/or ground support equipment; or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline and 16 years of experience
  • Must have an active TS security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI  
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience managing the work activities of a team of engineering and operational staff
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience implementing and managing systems engineering processes on large DoD programs
  • Extensive experience in end-to-end system lifecycle development, design and integration of space ground systems
  • Knowledge of enterprise engineering and architecture, system interfaces, command and control systems
  • Flexible systems thinker with the ability to quickly deliver results
  • Experienced with DoD acquisition programs
  • Effective communication skills, collaboration, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • US Citizenship
