The NIC has a wide variety of technical needs; specifics of the role will be defined based on candidate experience, interests, and program needs.
Program Timeline:
The Technical Intern will support Observatory Operations and be responsible for the following tasks:
Shadow observatory operators to learn the basics of photometric data collection with sub-meter telescopes.
Research photometric data applications in the context of Space Domain Awareness (SDA).
Draft a proposal for a small-scale optical collection campaign designed to answer an SDA relevant question.
Perform the proposed data collection with operator oversight.
Process and analyze the data with provided processing tools, and deliver a briefing with results from the final data product.
Qualifications
