The NIC has a wide variety of technical needs; specifics of the role will be defined based on candidate experience, interests, and program needs.

Program Timeline:

  • Interviewing begins in October of 2023
  • Selections begin December 2023
  • On-boarding activities begin in January 2024
  • Internship Program begins in June 2024 and ends in August 2024

The role of the Technology Intern is to support the implementation of software tools using numerical astrodynamics algorithms. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Establish software framework for library of tools that use existing astrodynamics algorithms, including standardized code/application, interfaces, code architecture, etc.
  • Translate selected legacy FORTRAN code into modern equivalents.
  • Develop test scenarios and validate tool outputs.
  • Document code, write user guide, and present summary briefing.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Applied Math and Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, and a strong record of academic achievement, graduating in 2024 or 2025.
  • Based on Federal Law, you must be a US citizen to be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph clearance. If selected, SAIC will sponsor the clearance.
  • Reside in local area while in the internship program
  • Available to work 40 hours a week for 10 weeks from June 2024 to August 2024
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams

Target salary range: Up to $25,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
