SAIC is seeking a Field Engineer to support the US Navy in San Diego, CA.

Note: This position is on-site is located at our customer site: Top Side NIWC Pac (Point Loma). 10 % travel, amount of may travel fluctuate based on customer needs.  

JOB DESCRIPTION:

SAIC provides engineering expertise to support, maintain, develop, and test existing and new communications systems for NIWC PAC.  This position will provide support for multiple systems providing research, design, development, and testing of information processing hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, and electrical components.  Qualified candidates will have some experience reviewing and developing technical specifications for production, analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions, and tests hardware conformance to specifications.  The engineer will use existing system specifications, technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to maintain systems in the lab. This position is part of a team working closely with peers, government, and vendors.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelor’s and two (2) years’ experience; OR master’s and 0 years related experience.  
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to travel, amount of travel fluctuates.
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting, but also able to work independently to resolve issues in the field.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Electronics background including soldering experience.
  • Experience with VLF communications systems. Circuit board assembly, modification, and repair experience.

Target salary range: $75,001 - $100,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
