SAIC is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join a dynamic team supporting the City of Irvine! The key role of the Senior Security Engineer will be to provide security services support for City of Irvine’s Palo Alto Firewalls environment. Respond to operational requests day-to-day and act as the second level of escalation for incident resolution. Working closely with the Security Manager to review new technologies and standards and assist with the development of SOP's, runbooks, and other Operational resources for the security team. Monitor traffic logs and create security related reports, setting of network monitor thresholds and general oversight of the network security health. 

This Role Performs:

• Design, analysis, planning, modification and maintenance of the network and security components, including network monitoring systems
• Management of all security equipment supporting the enterprise for both project and operational requirements
• Evaluation of new network and security technology
• Analysis of firewall policies and configuration to ensure they are in use, least privilege and satisfy business requirements
• Review and completion of firewall requests
• Test network and security systems
• Monitor and resolve network incidents on a 24X7 basis
• The position maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and security hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls and gateways

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience on network & cyber security
• If not bachelor’s degree, Highschool plus 12 years’ experience will suffice
• PCNSA and/or PCNSE certifications
• Strong experience with Palo Alto NGFW security products
• Palo Alto Panorama & Firewalls
• Global Protects
• Experience designing and deploying security technologies
• Experience designing and deploying load balancer and remote access solutions
• Experience managing large application build and move projects
• Strong background with Service and Change Management

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Palo Alto Panorama, Firewalls, Prisma, Imperva’s WAF
• Ability to present very complex technical concepts in understandable language
• Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Experience creating and presenting project plans and designs

Clearance

• Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation

Target salary range: $145,001 - $155,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
