SAIC is seeking a motivated, creative, and ambitious Senior MQ-9 Project Engineer to join the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) Joint Technology Center – Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) Tech Center in Huntsville, AL.

Candidate will assist the Medium Altitude UAS Program Office (MQ-9 Reaper) in their function as a focal point for project execution, scope management, and implementing management procedures/controls. A successful candidate will provide advisory support for project execution focus areas including progress reporting, resource scheduling, and test completion. An ideal candidate will have direct experience developing and executing MQ-9 Projects in Accordance With (IAW) Detachment 3 (DET-3) OI 99-103, Test and Evaluation Process. Candidate will be responsible for the life-cycle execution of their specific test program from test strategy through final delivery of the test report. Candidate will support or conduct Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), design reviews, test plan working groups (TPWGs), Technical Review Boards (TRBs), Safety Review Boards (SRBs), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) including Fire Readiness Reviews (FRRs) for weapons testing.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Communicate with stakeholders on all relevant activities for any test considerations associated with contract, schedule, or test strategy, and ensure that the program is provisioned to meet all the requirements in the test strategy.
  • Ensures all requisite coordination and documentation is accomplished for the project In Accordance With (IAW) Detachment 3 (DET-3) OI 99-103.
  • Provide expertise to reduce/eliminate project redundancies.
  • Participate as an advisor in support of TIMs, planning sessions, and draft documentation support for the development and presentation of project deliverables.
  • Support development and technical review of requirement/design documents, test strategy, test plan, modification documents, and test reports.
  • Provide advisory support to the customer for the review and coordination of technical orders and ensures the technical orders are approved for test.
  • Work with engineering teams to obtain airworthiness and cybersecurity approvals to meet test schedules and objectives.
  • Provide support by monitoring various project resources to include identifying risks and recommending potential mitigation strategies throughout the life-cycle execution of test programs.
  • Provide advisory assistance coordinating aircraft maintenance, modifications, and test article configurations in accordance with approved modification practices and procedures.
  • Provide advisory and documentation assistance by collecting, assessing, and evaluating both subjective and objective data acquired through the project life cycle.
  • Coordinates unique test support assets, hardware, special frequencies, and associated resources with customers, government agencies, and civil agencies to ensure effective and efficient T&E execution.
  • This position will require approximately 50% travel during the first year of employment to support DET-3 training and certification and 10% thereafter.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • BS degree and fourteen (14) years of experience; four (4) of experience accepted in lieu of degree.

Required Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to employment; must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance to maintain employment.

Required Skills: 

  • Strong experience as a Project Engineer on MQ-9 test programs IAW DET-3 OI 99-103, Test and Evaluation Process.
  • Proven ability to plan, execute, and report on a specific project per the DET-3 Test and Evaluation process.
  • Strong experience supporting and conducting TIMS, planning sessions TPWGs, TRBs, SRBs, TRRs, and FRRs.
  • Ability to produce and manage a T-2 Mods through development, installation, and configuration prior to testing.
  • Proven experience scheduling test assets and support resources with government and civil agencies and test ranges.
  • Experience coordinating weapons-specific test requirements with Weapons Managers and appropriate test range representatives.
  • Ability to ensure test planning and execution adequately covers all system requirements through regular collaboration and coordination with a Test Engineer.
  • Ability to coordinate with stakeholders to schedule test assets and support resources.
  • Ability to maintain the Project Test File on the DET-3 Test Enterprise SharePointTM, which includes all final documentation related to the program.
  • Strong understanding of Reaper MQ-9 CONOPS and operational facilities.
