SAIC is looking for a Software Project Manager/Scrum Product Owner to support a software development project at Kennedy Space Center. 

This candidate will work within the agile process and be the final authority for making decisions regarding priority, business value, and functionality for the work done by the Scrum development team. The Product Owner should possess an in-depth knowledge of goals and desired objectives of the project. Assignments are broad in nature, complex and usually requiring originality and ingenuity. This candidate must work independently and have an understanding of the technical complexities of assigned work. 

This professional will have the following responsibilities:

  • Liaison & Communication
    • Ably represents, interfaces with and engages the business user
    • Acts as a fully integrated team member
    • Uses clear goals to communicate the product vision at the beginning of every release and sprint so that the team understands and is equipped to realize it
    • Makes business decisions and clearly communicates requirements through epics and stories so they are understood
    • Communicates status outside the team
  • Development
    • Creates user stories and acceptance tests from themes and features granular enough for a single sprint
    • Creates, maintains, prioritizes, and sequences the product backlog
    • Participates in project, release, and sprint planning, daily scrums, reviews, retrospectives, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings
  • Application Support
    • Reviews deliverable and demonstrable code after every sprint, and has the authority to accept or reject functionality
    • Provides progress reporting
    • Assists as needed with backlog maintenance
    • Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency and radiating information
    • Assists with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs
  • Management
    • Is always accessible and participates proactively and constantly in the team activities
    • Steers the product to ensure delivery of business value
    • Is visible, vocal, and objective
    • Project Planning, including resource and budget estimates
    • Project Scheduling, including development of resource leveled schedules
    • Interface with internal operations groups to ensure smooth transition from development to operations

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Four year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, and five or more years of related work experience
  • Holds one or more of the following certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • At least three years’ experience as a Scrum Product Owner and as a Project Manager

Additional preferred factors:

  • Familiarity with n-tier development, object oriented principles, basic statistics, operations research, process analysis and improvement methodology, project management and business computations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with CMMI
  • Knowledge of and experience with Atlassian JIRA with Greenhopper

Target salary range: $115,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
