Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Python Software Engineer/Developer to drive the evolution of a pivotal software tool currently mid-development. This software processes data from computed tomography (CT) system tests and will function as a standalone application. With your expertise, you'll not only pick up where things stand but also navigate the path forward, making strategic decisions to bring the application across the finish line. Collaborate with a small and diverse team of developers and engineers, and take the lead in technical client discussions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quickly assimilate and navigate existing software framework to make informed decisions on software direction, ensuring successful project completion.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain intuitive graphical user interfaces based on project requirements.
  • Scope, plan, and execute against both short- and long-term product roadmaps.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware engineers and data scientists to build optimized software solutions.
  • Create and enhance reporting modules to automatically generate comprehensive test results.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide a small team of developers, data scientists, and engineers.
  • Engage and lead technical client interactions, adeptly managing diverse client personalities, and ensuring clarity and confidence in our software direction, even in the face of challenging client expectations.
  • Classify and prioritize software requirements, guiding the team's focus and ensuring alignment.
  • Develop and automate quality evaluations for large-scale data collections and flag discrepancies.
  • Document tool usage, provide guidelines for external vendors, and maintain documentation using tools such as Sphinx.
  • Ability to understand, implement, and utilize ANSI N42.45-2021 American National Standard for Evaluating the Image Quality of X-Ray Computed Tomography (CT) Security-Screening Systems

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 9 years of relevant experience, Masters degree and 7 years of relevant experience; Additional experience in lieu of a degree. 
  • Must be US Citizen with ability to obtain Secret clearance if needed by contract requirements. 
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability / Public Trust prior to starting work with our team.
  • Comprehensive understanding and demonstrated experience working through full software development lifecycle, from business/systems analysis, requirement gathering, functional specification authoring to development, testing, and delivery. 
  • Strong proficiency in relational databases and 5+ years experience with Python.
  • Currently active or able to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) suitability for Sensitive Security Information (SSI).
  • Experience in coding, debugging, and documenting software applications.
  • Adept at designing simple and scalable solutions and high standards when working with production systems.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working under fluid conditions and balancing tactical and strategic decisions.
  • Sound mathematical and statistical foundation relevant to engineering problems.

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
