SAIC is seeking an entry level Digital Engineer to join our energized Engineering Innovation Factory Team of solution architects and digital engineers to define and build the infrastructure that fuels the Digital Engineering Transformation across our entire industry. Our work creating digital ecosystems span an exciting variety of programs, customers and corporate initiatives requiring Digital Engineering and Model Based Engineering applications and infrastructure deployed in Defense, Federal Civilian, and/or National Security environments. This job can be worked remotely anywhere within the U.S with occasional (10% or less) travel to various SAIC or customer sites.

As part of our Engineering Innovation Factory Team, your primary role will be to engage with other digital engineering subject matter experts and foster broader understanding of their data, metrics and visual dashboards needs to assist them in developing digital work products. You will also be required to engage with the larger community (Industry, Government, and Academia) to stay up to date with latest trends and emerging technologies, approaches, methods, and techniques to further mature and or increase our digital engineering capabilities in the areas of data analytics, reporting, visualization, and to mentor others on our solutions and standards.  Your secondary objective will be to support / lead new digital engineering (DE) solutions (e.g.- tools & processes) development and deployment to both internal / external customers that will increase our capabilities in the areas of Engineering Design & Development, Modeling & Simulation, Production/Manufacturing & Quality, and Model Based Product Support offering areas

Ability to perform most or all of the following duties:

  • Collaborates across departments and with stakeholders to define requirements and develop business solutions to support our Digital Engineering objectives
  • Leveraging our existing digital engineering (DE) tools, and identifying and implementing new tools, develops new, or enhances existing, DE solutions from initial concept to fully tested production capabilities; and demonstrates results to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Works with stakeholders to identify trends, aggregate data and build visually appealing reports in Microsoft Power BI (primary tool) or possibly other applications that may be specified by our customers (e.g.- Tableau, Qlik, Tulip, IBM Cognos, iDashboards)
  • Designs and implements processes and solutions associated with a wide variety of data sets used for data/text mining and querying, analysis, modeling and visualization, and predicting to enable informed business decisions / business intelligence solutions.
  • Extracts and compiles various sources of information and large data sets from various systems to identify and analyze
  • Sets up process for monitoring, tracking, and trending data
  • Gains insight into key business problems and deliverables by applying statistical analysis techniques to examine structured and unstructured data from multiple disparate sources
  • Uses advanced mathematical, statistical, querying, and reporting methods to develop solutions
  • Leverages SQL / ETL routines to move, cleanse and prepare data for reporting
  • Develops information tools, algorithms, dashboards, and queries to monitor and improve business performance and supporting advanced analytics capability development such as AI / ML solutions
  • Researches, builds and designs self-running artificial intelligence (AI) systems to automate predictive models
  • Designs and creates the AI algorithms capable of learning and making predictions that define machine learning (ML).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline/field of study
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Strong understanding and ability to transform and integrate existing data sets
  • Experience in R, Python or similar applicable programming language
  • Hands-on experience with building visually appealing graphical user interfaces, dashboards, business intelligence or data visualization reporting systems
  • Experience in using data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Qlik, Python, and other relevant tools and package
  • Experience with Excel and Query tools (e.g.- Power Query, SQL, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mathematical and statistical applications
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a dynamic, fast paced, team oriented environment
  • Ability to solve a variety of complex problems in the absence of technical guidelines and when creative thinking is required
  • Prior experience (i.e. - internships / co-ops / capstone team projects) utilizing and applying digital engineering / technology, math / physics, and/or business systems / manufacturing toolsets. Examples include but not limited to: (e.g.-IBM DOORs / Rhapsody, Solidworks / Cero, AutoCAD, MATLAB, multi-physics modeling, XR/VR/AR, discrete event simulation, finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, LabView, dashboards / data visualization, computer aided manufacturing, enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing execution system (MES), etc.)

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools and techniques
  • Experience with additional / full Power BI tools suite – Power BI desktop, Power BI report server, Power services, Power BI report Builder, Power BI Gateways, Power BI Embedded, and Power BI mobile
  • Experience with implementation of various Power BI architectures
  • Demonstrated best practices to develop visualizations on Power BI desktop or Power BI service to ensure optimal performance, security, and governance
  • Demonstrated ability to construct custom calculations through Power BI DAX
