Description

SAIC has an immediate need for a High Performance Computing/Linux Systems Engineer. Our team is developing a novel solution pertaining to a high performance computing solution which implements machine learning and advanced processing algorithms in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will join a dynamic team that is singularly focused on providing solutions to our customers hardest problems. The responsibilities for this position include all aspects of the software development lifecycle including architecture and design, coding, and automated testing. As a software leader you will architect, design, build, and enhance a system used worldwide.  

Responsibilities include: 

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, working within broadly defined parameters on large, complex embedded and high performance computing systems 
  • Participate in the modernization of a high performance computing platform
  • Develop technical documentation regarding system architecture and system design.
  • Resolve roadblocks for the development team, working collaboratively with the Product Owner, technical leadership, and other engineer

Qualifications

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience; Master's and 4 years of experience; 
  • Hands-on expertise with programming in ‘C’, 'C++, Assembly, or VHDL
  • Candidate must be willing to learn other languages e.g. FORTRAN - Demonstrated ability to learn new programming languages and technical skills
  • Expert Level Linux Server Administration and Bash Scripting Proficiency
  • Deep understanding of software design patterns
  • Experience with a version control system (e.g., Git) 

Experience with an issue/problem tracking system (e.g., Jira, GitLab, GitHub)

Desired Qualifications 

  • Strong knowledge of low level Linux (static & dynamically loaded) driver development 
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering/development using ‘C’ to modify Linux OS and custom Linux software threads
  • Strong knowledge in FPGA Programming
  • Strong knowledge in higher level languages such as Java, Python, and object oriented programming
  • Strong knowledge of memory address based reverse engineering
  • Experience developing and delivering modern software, including microservices, containers, and custom kernels
  • Develop technical documentation regarding system architecture and system design
