Description
SAIC is seeking a computational physicist to join our Physical Sciences team conducting basic and applied research on optical radiation effects in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory. The individual will work with scientists, engineers, and programmers to conduct experiments and develop models on the effects of optical radiation on materials and tissues. They will apply general physical principles, evaluate experimental and simulation results, and model physical phenomena. This is a full-time position based at the Air Force Research Laboratory at JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct research on the interaction of optical radiation with materials and tissue.
Develop models, both analytical and computational, based on experimental and simulation results.
Collaborate with colleagues on development and code implementation of models.
Consult on physical science aspects of projects as needed.
Communicate results both orally and in writing.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree & 2 years of experience; OR Master's degree in a physical science or engineering discipline.
Experience with laboratory techniques and experimental design.
Experience with coding and running models of physical phenomena.
Familiarity with C++ and Python programming languages.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
