SAIC is a Space Patterns of Life (POL) Mission Engineer to provide systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The customer is developing the next-generation of space and ground systems, architectures, and hardware and software solutions.

The Space POL Mission Engineer is the lead subject matter expert (SME) and System Program Office (SPO) representative in coordinating with the development contractor and stakeholders (including end user operators). The POL Mission Engineer coordinates the development and verification of POL analysis, trending, and alerting requirements. The POL Mission Engineer collaborates within a team of mission-related SMEs responsible for coordinating the system development, identification of discrepancies, requirements verification testing (and selloff), and mission validation testing, all leading to the deployment of new space protection capabilities into operations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Defining scope, interfaces, and standards for POL, alert messaging service, and forensic assessment of behaviors
• Coordinating with flying SPOs and operators to obtain necessary information and data for the ground processing system, and providing supporting data and alerts for those systems
• Representing the SPO in customer (enterprise and IC) system engineering discussions related to POL and alert messaging service capabilities
• Reviewing developer requirements to ensure conformance to SPO and enterprise requirements
• Planning, organizing, coordinating, and training developers, stakeholders, and operators to create and deploy new space protection capabilities
• Coordinating the development of tools to analyze current and historical patterns of the behaviors of on-orbit systems and their trends, in order to indicate changes in operations

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
• Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience;
• Demonstrated skills in developing technical solutions enabling others to succeed
• Ability to quickly respond to technical data queries and needs
• Demonstrated skills related to operations research or applications related to behavior patterns/trending
• Experience with ephemeris data and orbital mechanics
• Exceptional communication and coordination skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in space systems activities and operations, or space domain awareness
• Experience in customer’s mission capabilities with past experience within the IC
• Expertise in IC system engineering processes and testing
• Familiarity with Agile development to include participation in scrums, development of solution and program epics, user stories, features, and continuous integration/continuous deployment
• Experience in developing executive-level briefings
• Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA
