SAIC is seeking a Space Activities Mission Engineer to join the National Security and Space (NSS) Sector providing systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The customer is developing the next-generation of space and ground systems, architectures, and hardware and software solutions.

The Space Activities Mission Engineer is the subject matter expert (SME) and System Program Office (SPO) representative in coordinating with the development contractor and stakeholders (including end user operators). The Space Activities Mission Engineer coordinates the development and verification of requirements related to on-orbit activities. The Space Activities Mission Engineer collaborates within a team of mission-related SMEs responsible for coordinating the system development, identification of discrepancies, requirements verification testing (and selloff), and mission validation testing, all leading to the deployment of new space protection capabilities into operations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supports the System Program Office (SPO) in the overall system technical capability planning to acquire ground-processing systems that advance the nation’s space resiliency posture
• Serves as the SPO representative technical expert in coordinating the development and implementation of space protection capabilities to deploy to ground processing systems and the concept of operations for users to utilize the data and information presented to them
• Serves as individual contributor and member of a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) that work to develop technical plans and documentation for, coordinate the acquisition of, and support the integration of a ground processing systems with space systems to protect space assets
• Synchronizes with other SPOs, SED, and MOD to ensure understanding of the needed capabilities and interfaces necessary for use by space protection operators
• Coordinates, develops and presents briefings to engineering boards to guide the SPO through the engineering and acquisition trade spaces
• Represents the SPO as a technical SME in coordination activities
• Support COTRs and developers to refine understanding, designs, and testing capabilities to meet user needs

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD and five (5) years or more experience
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly
• 5+ years experience with a space or ground software systems and concept of operations development
• Prior experience developing, testing, or fielding systems with activity modeling 
• Experience with IC or DOD space ground processing systems
• Exceptional communication and coordination skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in space systems activities and operations, or space domain awareness
• Experience in customer’s mission capabilities with past experience within the IC
• Familiarity with Agile development to include participation in scrums, development of solution epics, user stories, features, and continuous integration/continuous deployment
• Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA
• Space Protection experience a PLUS!
