Provide analysis, research, and scholarly material on emerging issues concerning strategic deterrence—including deterrence policy, strategy, planning, and doctrine; arms control, NC3, CWMD, proliferation prevention, active and passive defense, counterforce, consequence management, chemical-biological-radiological-nuclear (CBRN) defense, nuclear mission capabilities and related national security issues

Lead the design and execution of short and long-term, structured research projects to address key client issues in the areas above resulting in peer reviewed products informing senior policy makers, operators, academia and other stakeholders on key issues, potential policy positions and the implications for the USAF of differing policy options

Respond to short, no notice research tasks providing focused analysis of emerging issues of interest to USAF leadership

Ad hoc support for exercises and studies leading to new Air Force deterrence concepts and CONOPs

Ability to conduct and synthesize complex research into readily accessible products (briefings, reports, papers) for a general officer and senior civilian audience
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree and ten (10) or more years of related experience; Master’s and eight (8) years of related experience
- Active Secret clearance required to start; Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance required to maintain employment
- US citizenship required

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated superior research and analytical skills

Ability to organize and distill extensive research data into concise narrative presentations for various audiences

Proficiency with MS Office products

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding Air Force processes
-
Familiarity with deterrence and arms control literature
-
Understanding of military operations and plans, particularly Air Force nuclear operations
-
Background and experience designing, analyzing, and participating in wargames
-
Knowledge of CBRN weapons and AF CWMD capabilities, operations, and policies
