Job Description


SAIC is looking for a Business Development Director to support its Army Intelligence and C5ISR growth. As a Growth company, SAIC requires BD professionals who think differently about business development and proactively shape opportunities through customer relationships well before competitors are aware.

As such, our BD professionals will pro-actively develop and manage a dynamic, multi-year pipeline of opportunities in various stages of maturity. This position reports to SAIC’s Business Development Executive for Aviation, Missile Defense, Fires and C5ISR (AMD/Fires/C5ISR) within the Army Business Unit. The location for this role is the NOVA/DC/Aberdeen Maryland/Fort Bragg NC. Other locations will be considered for ideal candidate with ability to travel frequently to NOVA/DC/Maryland as needed.

Our BD professional will work closely with the Vice President sub-account leader over SAIC’s Army Intelligence/C5ISR Sub-Account operational portfolio, and directly support deal shaping, pipeline management, capture and solution development success. The BD professional will identify actions to target white-space growth, shape and deliver short and near-term on-contract growth while also developing and shaping longer term contract growth. BD professional will develop and execute customer call plans, assist with opportunity qualification, initial pursue/no pursue decision, teaming for specific opportunities, and actively assist with proposal development/reviews. BD professional will recommend action plans for other members of the ABU account teams, and coordinate messaging and engagements between other SAIC business units.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be clearly conversant with Army and DoD Intelligence, as well as Army C5ISR
  • Have a proven record of successful shaping of technical opportunities in the US Army/DoD (standard contracts and single-award task orders are priority experiences over Multi-Award Contracts or multi-prime IDIQ victories).  Must be able to cite specifics in interviews.
  • Have a proven success in on-contract growth (see comments earlier)
  • Have a proven record of executing unique approaches to lead generation and business growth evidenced through repeat customer advocacy, growth thru referrals, and initiation of new contracts through progressive customer engagements
  • Must be a proven self-starter with a high degree of discipline and attention to detail. Must be results driven while retaining relationship equity, participating in all aspects of a complete capture that results in the award of programs
  • Team and Enterprise Oriented. Work well in a highly productive, highly accountable, small team environment
  • Demonstrated communications and interpersonal soft skills. Must have an Industry reputation for high-degree of emotional intelligence and executive communications.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors and ten (10)+ years or more of related business development experience.  Ideally, educational and work experience enables candidate to quickly understand highly technical things and communicate in effective yet simple terms to others.
  • Fifteen (15)+ years of operational experience (military, government, and/or contractor) within US Army Intelligence, US Army Special Operations Command, and/or C5ISR programs
  • Ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years’ experience shaping and winning technical opportunities (C5ISR projects, captures); highly desirable for winning experience within Army Intelligence, US Army Intelligence & Security Command (INSCOM); US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM); US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), Army PEO IEW&S and associated DEVCOM C5ISR organizations.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills working with technical leaders and business executives within SAIC, with DoD/Army customers, and with teammates and subcontractors.
  • Provide portfolio of submittals and awards that include experience in all types of government contracts (FFP, T&M, Cost Plus) and full array of capture strategies (major re-competes, incumbent capture, sole source) (Preferred)
  • Be a US Citizen with an active TS clearance (with ability to obtain SCI)
