The Space Weather Office is seeking a full-time IT Operations Manager to support a growing staff of NOAA & NASA management, scientists, engineers in Greenbelt, MD. This position will provide IT Operations Management (ITOM) in support of the onsite Space Weather Office located in Greenbelt MD. The ITOM will be responsible for overseeing and managing the information technology systems for the space weather organization. This position requires working knowledge of NASA enterprise applications, collaboration workspaces, enterprise services such as NASA and NOAA email.  Responsible for ensuring that the IT infrastructure of the SWO is running smoothly and efficiently, meeting the needs of the organization and its stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage IT projects, including gathering requirements, managing to the objectives, requirements, scope, approach and reporting on status of IT projects.
  • Track agency and center security mandates and provide solutions that best meet the customer’s needs.  Responsible for ensuring that the organization's IT systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Determine project requirements and deliver solutions to meet the objectives of the requirements.
  • Manage the deployment of new technologies to improve customer service.  Responsible for planning and implementing new technologies and systems that can help the organization become more efficient and effective.
  • Will be involved in strategic planning and decision-making, working closely with other SWO executives and stakeholders to ensure that the organization's IT strategy is aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the project.
  • Create and manage project status reports for customers.
  • Initial work will require hands on experience setting up end user devices and access to NASA resources.
  • Work closely with the Business Management to provide IT budget and long-term planning for cost.  Will be involved in the procurement process to assist the project support manager (PSM).

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and eighteen (18) years or more experience; Masters and sixteen (16) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and thirteen (13) years or more experience.

Requirements Skills:

  • Must be well-versed in a wide range of technologies, including computing hardware, software, and networking systems.
  • Must have excellent skills managing a multi-platform Windows AD environment using both PC and Mac end user devices.
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing NASA and NOAA enterprise services.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to present solutions, requirements, monthly reporting, processes and procedures, project documentation, etc.

Clearance: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
