SAIC and NIWC Pacific will support U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) with an Engineering Tech V to maintain, repair and track current and future Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (UROV) systems at Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit (EODESU) TWO located at JEB Little Creek, Virginia (Norfolk/Virginia Beach area) . Current systems include the SeaBotix vLBV 300, the SRS Fusion, and the VideoRay Defender.  Future systems will be part of the Maritime Expeditionary Standoff Response (MESR) Family of Systems program of record. EODESU TWO serves as the materiel, maintenance, and logistics support commodity manager for EODGRU TWO commands.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on underwater ROV systems to include current and future systems utilized by EOD forces by troubleshooting, replacing components, and performing specific Organizational, Intermediate and Depot level repairs.  Coordinate with NIWC Pacific and the OEMs for actions that require a higher level of repair. 
  • Perform operational/functional testing per manufacture guidelines prior to system equipment issue, upon receipt, and after component replacement and repairs.
  • Track configuration management for all EOD ROV and MESR systems.  Coordinate with NIWC Configuration Manager to upgrade and refresh systems as needed to maintain the latest available system versions.
  • Manage the shipping of systems and components as needed between NIWC Pacific, the OEMs and EOD units to facilitate repairs.
  • Maintain a current technical publications library for all supported systems.
  • Manage software version control for all EOD Group TWO EOD ROV and MESR systems.  Coordinate with NIWC Pacific to receive the latest fleet release versions and install on all available systems.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts needed to support maintenance and repair of fleet systems. Track spares inventory and usage rates, and coordinate with NIWC Pacific to order replacement parts as required.
  • Track maintenance actions in the FAR database and other maintenance management systems in use at EODESU TWO.
  • Support NIWC Pacific maintenance and training efforts as needed. Help facilitate NIWC-sponsored fleet training events.
  • Maintain all required certifications to conduct outlined tasks.
  • Properly utilize, store, and dispose of HAZMAT as required for system maintenance.
  • Provide basic user training on platform accessories (e.g., Portable Power Supply).

Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • AA degree in related discipline and nine (9) years of experience; or High School and eleven (11) years of related experience.

Required skills:

  • A minimum of four years of experience as an Electronics Technician, EOD Technician or similar professional discipline.
  • Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, problem solving and repairing operational systems.
  • Must be capable of operating test equipment, electrical hand tools, and basic hand tools.
  • Must be proficient in the use of basic computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Maintain system certifications for maintenance on all assigned UROV systems.
  • Possess a valid CPR certification in accordance with standards of the American Heart Association.

Required clearance:

  • Must have an active Secret clearance.

Desired skills:

  • A minimum of three years operating, maintaining and repairing current EOD ROV systems, including SRS Fusion, VideoRay Defender and SeaBotix vLBV 300. Note: This is a preferred requirement; candidates will be considered base on overall ability to fulfill the requirements.
