Job Role Specific Requirements:

  1. Designing, provisioning, and configuring cloud environments
    1.  AWS Engineer – Demonstrated proficiency using the AWS Console
    2.  Azure Engineer – Demonstrated proficiency using the Azure Portal
  2. Demonstrated understanding of
    1. Configuring new workloads within CSP (e.g., AWS Control Tower, AWS Accounts, Azure Subscriptions/Resource Groups, CSP Policies and Security Controls)
    2. Configuring and troubleshooting CSP networking services (e.g., VPCs/VNETS, Private Links, Gateways, Load balancers)
    3. Configuring and troubleshooting CSP compute and storage services
    4. Configuring and maintaining security policies and controls
    5. Configuring and troubleshooting CSP native services
  3. Demonstrated understanding of access control and security principals within CSP (Azure or AWS)
  4. Advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose and remediate root cause of cloud workload issues
  5. Proficiency in automation through scripting – using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python and Ansible, including use of remote APIs
  6. Demonstrated understanding of cloud engineering methods, applications, and best practices across cloud service providers.
  7. Understanding of FedRAMP services and best practices for their consumption by application workloads – examples include API Gateway, Lambda functions, Cognito, AWS Code Commit, and container services, Azure Batch, Azure Blob, Kubernetes
  8. Identifying opportunities and solutions to optimize cloud consumption by the agency
  9. Collaborating with external development teams to validate solution architecture within agency cloud environment
  10. Supporting strategic cloud initiatives, such as TIC 3.0, Zero Trust Architectures, and DevSecOps by providing architectural guidance and hands on implementation of approach
  11. Identifying and communicating opportunities for improving agency security posture within cloud environments
  12. Providing leadership to junior engineers to increase understanding of agency cloud environments

 

   Preferred skills and qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated proficiency with deploying stack sets and using AWS Control Tower (AWS Oriented candidates only).
  2. Experience implementing, managing, and supporting security products such as Palo Alto Prisma Cloud and XSOAR
  3. Experience assessing, customizing, troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining current and emerging technologies, platforms, and applications to help ensure greater security and efficiencies, inclusive of containers
  4. Experience with cloud orchestration tools and continuous delivery processes to deploy and manage cloud infrastructure for customers to consume

Qualifications

Experience:  Must have a minimum of 10 years of related experience managing cloud environments, possessing extensive skills and knowledge in cloud service provider selection, implementation techniques, application data migration techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.  Possess at least 1 Professional or Specialty certifcation from a cloud provider.

Duties:  In addition to the duties required of a Cloud Engineer Sr, a Cloud Engineer SME will provides technical, managerial, and administrative direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development and implementation for complex to extremely complex systems within cloud infrastructure.   Troubleshoots cloud performance issues.  Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions.

   the ability to obtain a public trust
