SAIC has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer in Springfield, VA area to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services focused on protection of space systems.  Responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee integration of space protection functions/capabilities of delivered systems
  • Provides analysis of schedules, capabilities of operational needs (near and long term) 
  • Assist in developing systems architectures and associated requirements, and oversee integration of mission protection systems
  • Provide end to end system engineering for the entire life cycle of a program
  • Support requirements development, interface control documentation, technical specification review, architecture and CONOPS development 
  • Help develop standards, tools, and procedures for use on projects including but not limited to issue risk, change and information management
  • Analyze and provide recommendations to multiple government customers, providing key information, possible risks and impacts and potential improvements to government managers and other points of contact
  • Review documentation, represent government as required in forums that support streamlined delivery of new capabilities and standardization of integration efforts

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  Bachelors of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), Engineering Management, Business Administration, OR  relevant field required; 5+ years of relevant space operations and systems engineering experience; Masters and 3 years or more experience 

Required :

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Knowledge of satellite constellations, spacecraft orbit, and ground station characteristics
  • Program lifecycle experience from concept development and design to deployment and operational maintenance
  • Experience with requirements development, interface control documentation, technical specification review, architecture and CONOPS development 
  • Familiarity with NRO missions, organizations, systems engineering processes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, operate effectively with contractor, SETA, FFRDC, and Government teammates
  • Ability to quickly craft briefings and talking points for the government with minimal guidance. Represents government and their interests in various forums as needed
  • A self-starter, proactively addressing customer requirements with no supervision; expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics
  • Polished communicator (written/verbal); impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment
  • Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder

Desired Qualifications:

  • Real-time operations experience as a spacecraft operator or vehicle engineer
  • Familiar with MBSE/Digital Engineering, AGILE development, cloud technologies
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly
