SAIC is seeking a Senior Cloud Computing Engineer to join SAIC’s DOI Cloud program team. This position is hybrid remote.  Candidates may be required to work onsite as needed. Preferred candidates will be located in the Washington DC Metro Area.

SAIC’s Civilian Business Unit, DOI, provides solutions and services supporting digital modernization programs in areas such as systems engineering, multi-cloud computing, cybersecurity, data science and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, quantum computing, application development, SecDevOps, cloud network operations, and secure communications.

We are seeking a highly motivated Cloud Engineer to join our Information Technology Transformation to Cloud team.  As the Cloud Engineer, you will be a part of an Agile team, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing hybrid multi-cloud environment for an enterprise model offering.  Additionally, you will discover, assess, recommend, and implement cloud-applications, migrate existing on-premises or current cloud environment applications to the cloud. In addition, this individual will directly implement specific compute, storage, network, security, and other architectures and designs required for the DOI’s continuing adoption of cloud services. They will be responsible for understanding AWS, Azure systems, and deploying Platform as a Service (PaaS) services.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Investigates new technology and technology insertion
  • Supporting a multi-cloud environment migration of mission critical systems
  • Advising mission users on utilizing cloud-based IT systems, providing support for development in, or transition to the cloud, and being responsible for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cloud environments
  • Providing cloud strategy services that cover all security fabrics and are available to the Government to assist with the relocation of an organization’s business applications, data, and workloads to ensure maximum effectiveness of the multi-cloud environment
  • Providing advisory services to the service provider and client element for the discovery, adoption, and understanding of new and existing CSP service offerings operating in the hybrid-multi cloud environment
  • Ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into cloud solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Experience in Disaster Recovery Strategic Planning and implementation in government
  • Solid understanding of NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
  • Experience with ATO, SSP, and PoAM
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills with the ability to articulate business requirements into new technologies
  • Cost optimizing existing cloud environments and applications.
  • Designs, plans, and integrates cloud computing and virtualization systems using infrastructure as code and modern cloud-native deployment techniques such as DevOps and/or DevSecOps. 
  • Providing architecture guidance
  • Preparing concept of operations papers
  • Developing target state diagrams
  • Conducting gap analysis of tools, common services and business processes

This position is contingent upon award, and available 100% remote nationwide. 

Qualifications

Required:

  •  Bachelors and nine(9) or more years of experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience of experience in a cloud and/or hybrid environment
  • Minimum of 3 years in one or more of the following activities:
  • IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services (e.g., compute, storage, network, security, administration, automation, application services, and databases) in either native cloud or hybrid cloud environments
  • Demonstrated experience with: AWS and Azure, Networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, SQL, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes
  • Developing and deploying cloud solutions to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience working with DevSecOps tool chains. Experience in building and deploying systems in the cloud using continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) frameworks and infrastructure automation
  • Large-scale data architecture, data modeling, database design, and information systems implementation
  • Strong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team, as well as the Cloud Service Providers (CSPs)
  • Experience preparing technical documentation
  • Experience working in a team environment with the ability to mentor junior team members
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance

Desired:

  •   AWS, Azure or GCP Certification
  • Strong analysis and quality assessment skills
  • Experience with various Linux and Microsoft Windows OSs distributions
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and databases
  • Experience migrating both custom built and enterprise apps to, and from on-prem to cloud or cloud to cloud
  • Experience with Zero trust architectures
  • Experience with AWS Workspaces or experience deploying VDI solutions to AWS Cloud
  • In-depth understanding of, and experience as a cloud engineer with AWS and Azure, Networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, SQL, storage
