SAIC is seeking a Technical Lead to join a modernization effort within one of our VA projects. We are looking for a Technical Lead who has hands-on development experience with Java and familiarity with full life cycle implementation. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a small development team. This role is 100% remote!  

Responsibilities:

• Leads a team of junior to senior developers
• Mentor and lead engineers to improve their skills and knowledge.
• Will effectively work in a team environment and focus on delivering value for the client
• Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs application software using standards and frameworks as defined by the team.
• Execute tasks and communicate progress clearly.
• Develop high quality deliverables using source control, branching, and merge strategies.
• Use technical problem-solving skills and communicate any impediments to project completion.
• Support development of process automation initiatives and modernization projects.
• Design, document, and help optimize the CI/CD strategies to reduce costs while ensuring quality.
• Collaborate with other development team members and external teams when needed.
• Reviews work of others to ensure the technical solution is sound.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, systems engineering, or related technical discipline is preferred and 9+ years of related experience or a Master’s Degree in related technical field and 8 years of related experience required. Additional 4+ additional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of education.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance per VA regulations

Required Skills:

• Must have prior hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, PostgreSQL
• Experience with multiple web service technologies including XML, JSON, REST, SOAP.
• Experience with various Java frameworks (JEE, Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, AOP, JPA)
• Knowledge of Java build tools and dependency management (Gradle, Maven)
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jasmine and Cucumber
• Experience with Continuous Integration automation using tools like Jenkins
• Experience with Git and Git Flow.
• Experience using Agile methodologies
• Previous consulting or client facing experience
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Experience leading development teams.
