SAIC has a phenomenal opportunity for a Vice President of Business Development to lead our growing Civilian team and deliver double-digit growth. In this role, the VP of Business Development will leverage established client relationships and a proven track record of managing the full scope of business practices to target, develop, qualify and capture profitable business.  

We seek a candidate to work collaboratively with our Leadership team to execute the responsibilities outlined below. Within this partnership, the candidate will share overall responsibility for agency-level business development strategy, planning and execution for opportunities. The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities in market analysis, strategic business planning including opportunity identification, qualification and maturation, confidently making pursue or no pursue decisions in past assignments.  This individual will work effectively with the Civilian Business Unit team members including P&L account leaders, solutions architects, line program managers and SMEs to engage customers and market SAIC solutions.

 The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of the missions of the respective agencies, their cultures, organizational hierarchy, leadership interdependencies, major initiatives and their challenges
  • Develop and manage a dynamic, multi-year pipeline of opportunities in various stages of maturity
  • Possess the skills and the ability to map opportunities to SAIC core competencies and select the highest PWIN opportunities
  • Lead throughout the qualification process and stay deeply involved in developing the company’s win strategy
  • Progress opportunities through SAIC’s Pre-Award process so an opportunity is included in SAIC’s pipeline metrics as a qualified opportunity 

Secondary responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of customer contact
  • Teaming interactions
  • Coordination with other internal business development and sales resources available across SAIC.
  • Engaging with existing delivery teams to understand issue with current execution, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Analysis and identification of variety of contract types including cost plus fixed fee, fixed price, award fee, and performance based contracting that would improve program financials

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 18+ years of related experience; experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A reputation for being able to build and work within high performance teams in a matrix-management environment
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in growth-related activities that include strategic planning, business development, capture, and proposal development. Proven track record of success in capturing and winning new business. Familiar with best practices in these named areas.
  • Proven history of winning complex, prime integration services or systems engineering contract awards with values over $100M that meet and exceed challenging goals and quotas
  • Experience leading successful BD teams in the Federal / Defense space; specifically having experience shaping large task orders on GWACS and FEDSIM.
  • In-depth knowledge, experience, and success in capture for all contract types (non-IDIQ, IDIQ - single or multiple award contracts), as well as payment types (e.g., FFP, T&M, cost plus) and full array of capture strategies (major re-competes, incumbent capture, sole source, etc.).
  • Candidates must have highly effective interpersonal skills in order to carryout daily interactions with technical leaders and business executives within SAIC, with the customers, and with teammates and subcontractors.
  • U.S. Citizenship required with ability to obtain a Secret clearance 

Target salary range: More than $225,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
