SAIC is seeking a Subject Matter Expert with a background in Space Technology to support the Principal Director within the Office of the Deputy Chief Technology Officer – Critical Technologies, OUSD R&E.  This position is hybrid remote.  When onsite work will be conducted in Arlington, VA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and integration of Space Technology critical technology roadmaps. Roadmaps shall include DoD Space Technology and budgetary activities, applicable program elements, coordinated with commercial and foreign technology investments. 
  • Assist, coordinate, and prepare deliverables for DoD leadership, outside agencies, Executive Branch, Congress, Industry, Academia, Professional Societies, and others as directed.
  • Support OUSD(R&E) liaison work with Services and Commands
  • Assist, prepare and conduct meetings with the Space Technology equities
  • Assist in providing support for management oversight, drafting policy guidance, and coordinating budget and Congressional Special Interest Items
  • Participate in DoD and non-DoD Services/Agencies program reviews
  • Assist in the assembly, writing, editing, and coordination of congressional reports
  • Assist in development and preparation of strategic research plans
  • Assist in goal setting for Space Technology within OSD and track assessment of progress
  • Assist in preparing for meetings and workshops, to include coordination of calendars of senior DoD personnel; preparation of announcements, agendas, read-ahead documents, meeting minutes, and technical briefing materials; management of logistics, travel arrangements, foreign visit requests, and meeting-facility support; administration of action items; and preparation of summary evaluations
  • Maintain broad situational awareness of research and development efforts involving Space Technology program areas
  • Assist in development and review of information papers and reports, such as weekly reports, information papers, action memoranda, emails, and other documents
  • Participate in various working group meetings, provide meeting minutes/action items, and produce draft responses on the action items/tasks
  • Provide administrative support for research business policy and procedures, such as DoD/Interagency policy, Federal Initiatives, and international collaborations related policy
  • Provide analysis to OUSD - R&E leadership in areas such as: research funding of DoD Labs, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), OSD and Services S&T initiatives, Federal Space Technology S&T policy, and Combatant Command engagements
  • Interact with contracting offices to facilitate open issues in contracting, technology, and budgeting to include approval of work plans and public release documents

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience.
  • Degree in Engineering Physics, Applied Physics, or similar field preferred

Required Clearance:

  • TS/SCI clearance;  Candidates with Top Secret clearance and eligibility to obtain TS/SCI may be considered
  • US citizenship required

Required Skills:

  • Background and experience in the Space Technology field specifically development, maintenance, and integration of Space Technology critical roadmaps
  • Experience coordinating and providing budget research and reports
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with DoD leadership, outside agencies, Executive Branch, Congress, Academia, etc.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
