The VG221 Technical Security and Safeguards (TSS) Engineering Lead is responsible for assisting in the oversight of all aspects of the Department of State IRM TSS Engineering team, as well as providing engineering service to include testing, maintenance and final disposition to IT hardware.  The lead shall be required to utilize resource management and technical expertise to drive TSS projects. The lead shall be capable of integrating the planning and leading of engineering activities to include the testing, implementation, and maintenance of IT solutions.  The lead shall be able to communicate and coordinate all TSS related work to the Project Manager and SAIC Senior Management. 

Description of Duties

  • Perform visual and operational inspections of office equipment to include bench testing, the use of Digital Imaging tools, using approved test procedures that are in accordance with OEM and current U.S. Government specifications
  • Perform non-destructive testing, inspection, diagnosis, and mitigate technical security vulnerabilities of IT hardware to include, Workstations, Printers, Network components, VTC's and Telephony equipment.
  • Ensure the application and integrity of security standards to diminish technical security vulnerabilities.  Discuss any issues between Department bureaus/offices, overseas posts and external agencies.
  • Repair and troubleshoot for a variety of digital and analog electronic and electromechanical office equipment.
  • Disassemble printed circuit board level and inspection, reassemble, and installation of modifications as required, and final operational testing.
  • Perform as the secondary customer interface for technical and business matters, information sharing, and basic problem resolution
  • Assist in the creation and dissemination of daily, weekly and monthly operational status reports
  • Provide support in the coordination, assignment and management of all incoming projects
  • Compose Daily worklogs and record in the Service Now Application
  • Track and report on task completion to TSS Program Management
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and escalate challenges to leadership.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in the field of Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Skilled in the use of calibration, maintenance and modification of electrical instruments
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively both orally and in writing
  • Use standard, well-defined processes, procedures, techniques, or tools.
  • Ability to research statistical, narrative, and electronic information and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, think conceptually, observe and evaluate trends, analyze data, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to act independently while routinely being reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall quality and content.
  • Self-motivation, professional demeanor and accountability.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to read and apply, schematics and technical manuals.
  • Ability to research statistical, narrative, and electronic information and draw conclusions.

Required Clearance

  • US Citizenship
  • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Desired Experience, Skills, & Attributes

  • Military and/or Intelligence Community experience in a relevant technical field of Electrical Engineering Technology or related field is preferred
  • Conceptual understanding of emanation suppression technologies
