SAIC is seeking a highly motivated DevSecOps Engineer to join our team of professionals at our Identity and Data Sciences Laboratory (IDSL) in Upper Marlboro, MD. This role will be primarily remote, but will require occasional attendance at our facility in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The selected individual will introduce methodologies to balance the needs of the software development life cycle, processes, and tools, from coding to development to maintenance, monitoring and updates. The individual will contribute significantly to maintaining our existing Windows and Linux based computing environments on premise and in the AWS cloud. 

The IDSL team operates the Maryland Test Facility (MdTF; http://mdtf.org) to carry out technology evaluations on behalf of our customers. The candidate will join a team composed of engineers working to design, build, and execute experiments in support of customer goals. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a hands-on environment with work primarily being performed onsite in a research setting, with additional opportunities to support field tests and pilots. This position is based in Upper Marlboro, MD and expects up to 20% travel within the continental US. Compensation DOE. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Docker containers, Kubernetes clusters and the use of open-source frameworks for orchestration, logging, monitoring, and networking of containers. 
  • Build & automate the entire DevOps pipeline, including application performance monitoring, CI/CD cycles, infrastructure and configuration management, and many others. 
  • Work with software developers, IT staff and oversee code releases and deployments. 
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues, provide level 2 technical support, perform root cause analysis for production errors, build tools to improve customer experience and develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires a BS and 2+ years, MS and 0+ years, or equivalent related experience. 
  • Must be US citizen.  
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Public Trust. 
  • Have experience with Linux, Kubernetes, AWS cloud, as that is what you will be working with. 
  • Experience with running or supporting containerized workloads and serverless workloads. 
  • Understand the DevSecOps toolset, Shell/Bash scripting, PowerShell, Python. 
  • Has experience with Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, CloudFormation, or Terraform. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting production environments. 
  • Knowledge of open-source tools and cloud resources to investigate and resolve issues, identify ways to cut down on tedious, boring tasks and free up the developers to do what they do best. 
  • Experience with identity management solutions, including Microsoft Active Directory. 
  • Has current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.  
  • Knowledge of Docker Compose, Rancher, Prometheus, Grafana. 
  • Be able to analyze the current technologies and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them. 
  • Introduce methodologies to balance needs throughout the software development life cycle, processes, and tools, from coding to development to maintenance and updates.
