SAIC has contingent job opportunities for IT Installers to support upgrades of LAN/WLAN at Medical Treatment Facilities and associated remote facilities in both CONUS and OCONUS locations.  

 

These positions are contingent upon contract award, expected Spring 2023.  This date is subject to change.

These positions will be 100% remote with travel to various CONUS and OCONUS locations as needed.

The IT Installers will perform IT Installation and duties for LAN and WLAN upgrades at medical facilitates throughout the United States and OCONUS locations as needed. 

Duties include supporting the Installation Site lead in the following:

  • Organize telecommunications installations efforts
  • Perform site surveys to include creation of WLAN heat maps and documents current site telecommunications configuration and user requirements
  • Design optimized LAN and WLAN telecommunications topologies
  • Development of engineering installation packages
  • Develops on-site installation schedules
  • Mobilizes telecommunications installation team
  • Documentation of the configuration changes to include red-lines of site/system drawings at each site

Candidate will need to be proficient in:

  • Using common test equipment (e.g. fiber optic, copper and WLAN digital test sets)
  • Testing communications equipment/systems and following standard test procedures
  • Experienced at trouble-shooting and resolving problems with telecommunication equipment to include system interfaces and power/ground issues
  • Able to prepare detailed test reports

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School degree

EXPERIENCE:

Must have 5 or more years of experience supporting and leading LAN / WLAN efforts in two or more of the specific engineering support and installation support areas listed below:

  • Category 6 copper UTP and STP cable and fiber optic cable installation, termination, labeling, and testing
  • Design and installation of, but not limited to, cable tray, cable ladder, and surface mount raceway/duct, racks, cabinets, rack/cabinet/equipment grounding, work area outlets, conduit, life safety (grounding/fire stopping), and labeling
  • Experienced with meeting TIA standards relating to telecommunication installation of inside plant cabling and infrastructure for data systems
  • Experienced with current LAN/WLAN installation standards

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a multiplex/hospital environment
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five pounds and walk short distances
  • Must be able to climb and work from ladders pursuant to placing/installing wired and wireless appliance on walls and in ceilings

Desired Skills:

  • A background in Army Information Systems Engineering and Technical Support related to Installations and Testing
  • BICSI Installer 1 certification or preferred BICSI 2 Copper or Fiber Optic certification
  • Experience in the use of AirMagnet Survey PRO in conducting Site Surveys and the development of Heat Maps as well as use of the tool and the Survey data collected to design WiFi network upgrades and improvements
  • Experience in the use of AirMagnet Spectrum XT in conducting surveys to identify and mitigate any RF interference impacting WiFi Network Performance

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

  • Must have a SECRET security clearance

Target salary range: $50,001 - $75,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
