SAIC is seeking an REU (Robot Electronics Unit) Lead Software Engineer on the OMES II contract in support of the On-Orbit Servicing Assembly and Manufacturing OSAM-1 program NASA’s Exploration and In-Space Services Projects (NExIS) division.  This position is located at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.

OSAM-1 is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite. It contains 3 elements: the Flight Element comprised of the OSAM-1 Servicing Vehicle (RSV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct RSV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services. NExIS is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test, and operations of the OSAM-1 Mission through an integrated team at GSFC. The Servicing Payload design, development and RSV integration will be conducted at GSFC.

Job Description:

• Summary of role: As the Software lead you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the team, resources, processes, and software configuration management required to deliver EGSE software or upgrade existing software 
• Responsible for defining and enforcing a coordinated review, test, and release process covering multiple software deliverables shared between several operating environments 
• Perform requirement and design reviews, code reviews, testing and releases 
• Perform development and maintenance of ground support and testbed code as needed

Qualifications

Required Education:

•  Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience

Desired Education:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

Qualifications:

• US Citizenship required to obtain Public Trust clearance
• 5+ years of progressive Software Engineering/Development experience
• Hands on experience in testing/debugging software, firmware, and embedded systems 
• Extensive experience with modern development methods such as Agile and DevOps 
• Experience with git and Gitlab/GitHub for issue tracking and version control  
• Candidate must have strong communication and people leadership skills 
• Experience as a Software Engineering/Development Team Leader 
• Familiarity with any or all of ASIST, STOL, C, C++, Python, Labview, and VHDL
