JOB DESCRIPTION:  SAIC is seeking an experienced information systems and engineering expert to provide wide-ranging support to a technical makerspace facility that provides unique and dedicated facilities for engineering projects for a Customer office to support innovation and technological advancements.  The candidate will work as part of a team to provide oversight, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the makerspace, which is utilized regularly by Customer technical experts to advance their projects and research.  The successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a dynamic environment with regularly changing priorities.  This position will alternate between cycles of researching, developing, and testing new systems and networks, and cycles of operating and maintaining those systems once deployed.  The environment is dynamic and requires self-adjusting tasking and requirements based on observations to improve systems and processes.

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Current TS/SCI clearance with full-scope polygraph.  
  • Bachelor’s degree and (14) years or more of related experience. Masters and (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and (9) years or more experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience with IT systems, including the following areas:
  • Network device deployment/management/documentation (Routers, switches, wireless access points, mobile devices, access rules).
  • Server and workstation deployment/management/documentation (Hardware install, configuration, local and domain policy, account management).
  • Software license and patch management.
  • Ability to perform scanning and security documentation tasks for customer compliance systems (Rapid7, NMAP, etc.).
  • Close support and troubleshooting.
  • Engineering, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to train others in processes and procedures one on one and in small groups.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing at least 50lbs.
  • Record of accomplishment supporting the customer on planning, implementing, and tracking team initiatives and deliverables.  
  • Outstanding coordination skills and ability to build strong customer relationships, along with a high comfort level managing multiple requirements.  
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule within 7:30AM – 5:30PM core hours Mon – Fri.

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Facilities maintenance experience (equipment installation, workspace layout, data cabling installation, basic plumbing, electrical circuit requirements, basic construction techniques).
  • Familiarity with the concepts of digital fabrication equipment and operation (3D printing, laser cutting, water jet cutting).
  • Equipment and supply purchasing via government customer systems and processes.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and graphic layout software.
  • Shop and tool organization.
  • Policy and Procedure development and documentation.
  • Accountable property inventory and disposal.
  • Experience with safe operation, training, and maintenance of machinery.
  • Hazardous materials handling/disposal (MSDS, solvents, industrial waste).
  • Experience with safe operation and maintenance of scissor lifts and pallet stackers.
  • Willingness to perform facility cleaning services if necessary between regularly scheduled janitorial contractor visits.
