SAIC is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated engineer to lead an emerging team of systems engineers helping integrate mission assurance activities and ensure successful launches of valuable payloads. 

As part of the team, the candidate would lead effective mission assurance and IV&V activities with system- and mission-level assessments and integrating other discipline engineer activities. The candidate will also serve as a deputy for the program manager by ensuring business operations run smoothly.

At the San Bernardino engineering center we are a multi-discipline team of propulsion, structures, fluid mechanics, software, controls, and avionics engineers. We support the Rocket System Launch Program Mission Assurance (RSLP MA) contract for the United States Space Force which is a program that provides quick access to space to other government agencies.  We work with various launch vehicle contractors throughout the country to perform systems engineering and IV&V of their launch vehicle designs. 

Roles and Responsibilities (including some or all of the following):

  • Lead mission assurance activities by performing cross-disciplinary and interface assessments, and by engaging with discipline engineers
  • Coordinate mission assurance activities for a mission, providing a focal point for the engineering center to the rest of the mission team and ensuring mission assignments are performed and results communicated to our customers
  • Lead other Systems Engineering personnel and activities, developing and improving on processes that ensure upcoming rocket launches are successful
  • Support RSLP MA business operations through budgeting, resource management, scheduling, proposals, contracts and subcontracts, facilities, and staffing
  • Position is located at our Engineering Center in San Bernardino, CA
  • Participate in meetings both virtually and in person, travel expected approximately 10%

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or applied mathematics or applied physics or related program and 9 years of related experience
  • Experience performing technical tasking in one of the following disciplines in relation to rockets: Propulsion, Structural Analysis, Dynamic Environments, Aero/Thermal/Fluid Mechanics, Avionics/Electronics, Software, GNC, or Systems Engineering
  • Strong communication skills including verbal and written
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Position requires a proactive, self-starting, independent, flexible professional with excellent interpersonal skills capable of working on an inter-disciplinary team and learn new subjects and tools
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Current DoD Secret (or higher) Security Clearance
  • 11 years of related launch vehicle experience
  • Launch Vehicle Systems Engineering experience
  • Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
