Description

Provide a wide variety of technical writing and project team support for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Terminal Facilities.  Support the full lifecycle of identified FAA documents (e.g., Orders, Handbooks, reports, presentations, and templates).  Serve on project teams to participate in project meetings and develop required documentation, to include controlled FAA documents, meetings results, meeting minutes, and action items, as required.

Specific Job Functions:  

  • Manage all aspects of the document life cycle (i.e., development, review, release) to maintain configuration control of files.
  • Work directly with project team members/government personnel as part of documentation development process.
  • Coordinate with technical personnel to gather, compile, organize, and accurately describe in writing in correct format: technical information and policies/procedures
  • Validate technical content and acquire subject knowledge through research and consultation with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to provide recommendations for improvement and/or resolve any technical issues pertaining to airport design, tower design, and airport area needs.
  • Work with process owners to develop new and/or modify standard operating procedures 
  • Proactively identify documentation areas and content that need to be updated based on engineering/policy changes. 
  • Ensure documents meet editorial and customer specifications, while adhering to technical and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that final documents comply with corresponding standards and style guides.
  • Coordinate and participate in project meetings and document results, meeting minutes, and action items, as required.

Qualifications

Education/Experience   

BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in English, Technical Communication, or related field, and 5–10 year’s related experience.  15 years of related experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.  

US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Minimum Tangible Qualifications: 

  • Experience developing/managing documentation in the Aviation industry. 
  • Experience with FAA is a plus.
  • Experience with airport traffic control tower (ATCT) operations preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.   
  • Expertise with MS Office Suite.  
  • Capability to work independently or as a member of a project team.
