SAIC is currently seeking to hire a 3D Game Artist / Game Developer to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama.

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will help lead a team of game artists to create AAA title quality hard surface 3D models, textures, materials, and environments.  The artist will interact with team members, directors, customers, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop engaging interactive training products for government clients. The candidate must be a self-starter who takes ownership of their work and has a passion for learning.  Attention to detail is required for this position, as well as demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload, manage time efficiently, and lead in a team environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Mentor and collaborate with a team of artists and developers
• Develop highly detailed hard surface models for a realistic look in a modern PBR engine and other benchmark assets
• Collaborate with all members of a team to ensure artwork meets technical, design, and production requirements
• Support Leads, Directors, and Subject Matter Experts to plan, maintain, and report team status and priorities
• Use version control software, such as Bitbucket and project tracking software, such as Jira

Qualifications

Required Education:

• Bachelors Degree with five (5) years of experience; four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
• Ideal candidate will have a degree in  Graphic/Multimedia Design, Art, or similar field of study from an accredited college or university.

Required Skills:

• Proficient in the use of 3D modeling applications such as Maya or Zbrush, as well surfacing tools like Substance Designer and Painter, and understanding of creating physically-based lighting and materials
• Deep understanding of art and animation asset integration pipeline and optimization with the Unity Game Engine
• Experience working with cross discipline and external teams
• The candidate must possess a strong background in traditional arts, including but not limited to painting, illustration, design, or traditional media
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills are a required, including the ability to interact effectively in a team environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Experience working in an Agile development environment and task tracking tools such as Atlassian Jira
• Experience with Adobe Animate

Required Clearance:

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance; US Citizenship required

Desired Skills:

• Shipped AAA games
• Experience with the life cycle of design and programming of interactive training content from concept through project completion
• Video/audio production experience
• Previous experience working as a defense contractor
• Previous experience developing for mobile and AR/VR game applications
• Rigging and Animation Experience
