SAIC is seeking an Electronics Technician (SCA) to support Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic in both sustainment and modernization of the United States Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems at Norfolk Naval Station in Norfolk, VA.
Overview:
The Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services program is the Navy’s next generation tactical afloat network. CANES represents the consolidation and enhancement of five shipboard legacy network programs to provide the common computing environment for more than 40 command, control, intelligence and logistics applications.
Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Perform hardware inspection, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair services on various Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) platforms for our Tactical Networks (TACNET) Technical and Production Support Program.
- Follow/read various technical documentation (Drawing packages, Data sheets, Test Procedures).
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace network and power cables.
- Install and de-install equipment and components.
- Perform minor OEM/firmware software installation.
- Work under close supervision of higher-level technician.
- Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of customer requirements.
- Generate various daily, travel, technical/inspection, and after action reports.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- High School Degree or GED equivalent.
- Formal electronics training from: Technical School; Class A or B military school in electronics or communication; or a four (4) year electronics apprenticeship program.
- Formal electronics training to include: installation tasks, soldering, cable dressing, cable tray, conduit, and making/repairing connectors.
Required Experience and Security Clearance:
- Must have an active Secret security clearance to start.
- Four (4) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair, maintenance and checkout.
- One (1) year of practical experience in electronics installation.
