About the Budget Tracking Tool: The Budget Tracking Tool (BTT) is a government owned off the shelf (GOTS) Java application that supports program planning, budgeting, performance measurement, and management functions for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information Technology (OIT).  BTT provides a standardized, automated tool for program, contract, and budget management across a diverse group of organizations and accounting activities.  BTT interfaces with other systems at the VA to tie system data with the broader budgeting and contracting information at the VA.

SAIC is hiring a Junior Software Tester to support our Veterans Affairs Program.  This resource will develop and maintain an existing enterprise web-based Java application and be an integral part of the Unit and System testing processes. The position will primarily focus on testing and documenting the system functionality in order to deliver a high quality software application to the customer. The candidate will be working with the System Testing Team to develop test cases, analyze requirements, and perform functional and regression tests.  They will interact daily with other testers on the team to maintain consistency across test environments and support traceability among requirements/testing artifacts.  Candidate must have an understanding of industry trends to continue to develop and recommend alternative approaches to all tasks.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• A bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
• Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
• Ability to execute various types of software testing (regression, integration, etc.)
• Demonstrate understanding of software testing processes and techniques
• Creating, updating, maintaining, and executing manual test scripts based on customer and functional requirements
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Exceptional reading and writing comprehension skills to
  • Execute and maintain a large library of manual test steps
  • Document test results including potential defects based on performed test results
  • Communicate with the test manager as well as technical and non-technical team members
  • Other documentation tasks as needed
• Familiar with Software Development Lifecycle

Desired Qualifications:

• Understanding of web-based applications and ability to troubleshoot potential issues
• Knowledge of JavaScript
• Familiar with Section 508 concepts
• Familiar with CMMI concepts
• Enjoys working as a team member as well as independently
• Some experience with automated testing tools
