Description

As a Mission Assurance Engineer, provide Systems Engineering and Technical Analysis (SETA) support in the area of Mission Assurance (MA) and Parts, Materials, & Processes (PM&P) to the Gov’t customer.  The individual must have a broad knowledge of defense missions and architectures and be able to evaluate MA requirements, standards, and processes to assure success of those missions. 

Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in an interactive team environment with Government customer leads, development contractors, and other subject matter experts.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to support PMP activities to include recommendations on the application of requirements for space qualified parts and materials.
  • Support requirements flow-down and traceability.  Assist with ensuring compliance to standards, or ensure appropriate deviations/waivers are in place.
  • Review Parts Approval Requests (PARs), Material Approval Requests (MARs), and Vendor Requests for Information or Change (VRICs) and provide assessment recommendations to the Gov’t customer for their consideration
  • Participate in the Parts, Materials, Processes Control Boards (PMPCBs) to evaluate waivers and deviations to PMP requirements.
  • Review As-Designed Parts, Materials, Process Lists (ADPMPLs) and As-Built Parts, Materials, Process Lists (ABPMPLs) as part of design compliance evaluations in support of component, subsystem, and system design reviews.
  • Review Reliability & Maintainability analyses, EMI/EMC test results, and radiation analyses, as needed
  • Participate in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs), facility audits, and onsite visits/evaluations as necessary
  • Travel within the U.S. approximately one or two times per month for approximately 2-3 days per trip.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Physics, or similar technical discipline with nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
  • 3 years of experience working with electronic designs and analysis
  • Able to work effectively with a variety of engineers in different disciplines and organizations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • MS in Engineering, Physics, or similar technical discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience with overhead space missions and architectures
  • 3-5 years of experience working with electronic designs, analysis, and environmental testing
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques encompassing piece part to box-level assemblies
  • Understanding of environmental radiation effects on electronics and materials performance
  • Knowledge of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and ASIC designs
  • Experience working in a spacecraft System Program Office (SPO) or as a satellite development contractor
