SAIC is seeking a Research Scientist to join our OneSETA Team to provide our government customer with Systems Engineering & Technical Assistance (SETA) support. SETA services range from providing administrative assistance to providing expert technical assistance on national efforts that will contribute to maintaining and expanding the capabilities of homeland security.
The technical support Senior Scientist provides program support to the supported DHS Science & Technology (S&T) task lead who oversees the program activities and delivers solutions against customer-identified requirements. The Senior Scientist will support program with focus on Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) and a broad range of Homeland Security topic areas on the full spectrum of technology solutions. Contract support personnel need to have relevant experience and competency from operating in support of or in coordination with DHS mission partners, or have demonstrated proficiency providing program management and analytical support.
The Senior Scientist at SAIC initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research projects. Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. Plans and executes laboratory research. May also review and analyze data from research studies, develop reports and conclusions based on those data, make recommendations regarding areas of investigation needed in specific research program areas, develop program and product development plans to accomplish specific research/product goals, etc., and critiques/evaluates individual research projects and overall research programs. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences. May participate in development of patent applications. May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts. Scientists will have subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: chemistry including biochemistry and medicinal chemistry, immunology, cell biology, biology, molecular biology, ecology, veterinary science, physics, genomics, bioinformatics, bacteriology, stem cell research, agronomy, agriculture and agricultural sciences, etc.
