SAIC is seeking a Mid-Level Writer, Editor and Office Administrator to provide on-site support in the Pentagon working as part of the Military Training branch in the Office of the Deputy Assistance Secretary of Defense (Force Education & Training ) (ODASD(FE&T). 

Particular focus will be on reviewing and preparing documents for final distribution to senior policy analysts, ODASD(FE&T) and Congressional leadership.  Candidate will additionally support office management activities such as planning, developing and maintaining strategic calendar events, Military Training milestones, travel schedules, developing meeting agendas and obtaining senior level management input and approval. Participate in senior executive steering group designed to influence training policy for the Department of Defense.

Job Duties: 

  • Supports the Director, Military Training in the ODASD(FE&T).
  • Review and grammatically edit formal written policy and position papers for final Director level content review and distribution.
  • Ensure that final documents comply with corresponding standards and style guides.
  • Work directly with project team members/government personnel as part of documentation development process.
  • Coordinate and participate in team meetings and document results, meeting minutes, and action items, as required.
  • Manage document libraries and collaboration site using standard office tools.
  • Provide team support and coordination including managing team calendars, office movements, events and travel.
  • Work as an integral member of the Military Training team to support key initiatives and activities across the organization. 
  • Organize daily team meetings using common communication and collaboration tools. 
  • Work will include team support to include planning, research, preparation, development, and coordination on written communications to senior OSD leaders and members of Congress. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's and 9 years of related experience, Master's and 7 years of related experience.
  • Very strong and writing communication and organizational skills. 
  • Desired experience working in the Pentagon (military or civilian)
  • Experience communicating clearly with senior officials and senior staff. 
  • Familiarity with office administration and correspondence processes as a result of previous government, military and/or private sector assignments. 
  • Knowledge of the DoD Manual for Written Material (DoD 5110.04-M)
  • Committed to exceptional client service and professionalism while working at the client site.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and common office software applications.
  • Familiarity in the application of various knowledge management and collaborative tools including the use of Microsoft SharePoint.
