Description

SAIC is seeking a GEOINT Ground Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer as part of an exciting and innovative program. 

The GEOINT Ground Systems Engineer will join a team of on-site SETAs with responsibilities that may include but not limited to the following:  

• Support the System Program Office (SPO) by providing oversight of ground systems development and integration activities, with specific focus on the system engineering processes to ensure end-to-end system closure and satisfaction of mission need
• Assess integration activities in the context of cross-systems dependencies (technical, resource, and schedule) and present findings, analysis, and recommendations
• Identify and communicate system engineering risks, issues, opportunities, assumptions, mitigations, and dependencies
• Participate in Engineering Review Boards (ERBs) and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
• Coordinate with other technical domain Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and program stakeholders across multiple Offices and Organizations
• Represent the government client to development contractors and ensure proper messaging between the same

Work Location and Travel:

Option available to support full-time from client site in Chantilly VA, full-time in Springfield VA, or some combination thereof; with occasional local travel.

Required Education / Experience:

Opportunities exist for Ground Systems Engineers in Levels 2-5 as outlined below, with Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline:

• Level 2: Bachelor’s degree and 4 years or more relevant experience; or 8 years of relevant experience
• Level 3: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years or more relevant experience; or 10 years of relevant experience
• Level 4: Bachelor’s degree and 10 years or more relevant experience; or 14 years of relevant experience
• Level 5: Bachelors and 15 years or more relevant experience; or 19 years of relevant experience

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance
• Technical knowledge of GEOINT command and control, mission management, and/or mission processing systems, or relevant and related knowledge
• Knowledge and experience with system engineering processes
• Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills
• Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with other government agencies and mission partners  
• Strong written and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment
• Customer focused and capable of representing the customer in community forums
• Prior experience supporting an IC customer

Desired Qualifications: 

• Experience with various systems development methodologies (e.g Agile, DevOps, Spiral, Waterfall, etc.)
• Experience with cloud technologies
• Familiar with GEOINT missions systems, launch and initialization activities, and operations
• Experience using systems engineering processes, methods, tools, and program roles to develop, implement, and deploy solutions for Satellite Systems 
• Knowledge of how space systems are designed, specified, developed, manufactured, and tested
• Experience with lifecycle readiness from System Requirements Review through system decommissioning
• Experience in system engineering and analysis at the Enterprise level
