The National Security Customer Group of SAIC is seeking a Solutions Architect / Chief Engineer to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB) in Illinois.  The USTC Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract is intended to provide strategic, technical, and program management guidance and support services to facilitate the operations and modernization of the combatant command’s infrastructure, systems, and applications. This support will be provided to the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6). 
The successful candidate will provide support to the USTRANSCOM MITS program in the translation of business requirements into IT Service Management requirements and deliverables.  The successful candidate will provide technical analysis, recommendations, and alternatives with respect to the USTRANSCOM MITS environment and infrastructure. 
Daily responsibilities may include:
  • Leading key vision, roadmap and priority discussions with Program management and the Government customer from both business and technical perspectives  
  • Providing network/technical engineering functions associated with planning, testing, analyzing, implementation, operation and maintenance of all voice/data applications within the USTRANSCOM MITS operating environment 
  • Providing in-depth engineering analysis, recommendations, and support on all existing and future products associated with USTRANSCOM MITS infrastructure including all hardware/software, proof of concept testing, integration design/ plan, and deployment phases 
  • Assisting the IT Operations Lead by providing direction/training to operations staff supporting the USTRANSCOM MITS mission as required 
  • This position is for Monday through Friday, normal business hours.  However, employee may be required to provide after-hours and weekend support during planned or emergency events. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of eighteen years of IT-related experience with an emphasis on LAN/WAN engineering and support with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of and experience in network engineering and security, LAN/WAN, routers, switches, and VPN 
  • Ability to work in a multivendor network 
  • Working knowledge of IP subnetting, IP routing and troubleshooting IP-related issues 
  • ITIL Intermediate Level Certification(s) 
  • Ability to communicate IT, networking, and security concepts to personnel at all levels of experience and responsibility 
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master’s Degree in engineering and 16+ years of experience
  • ITIL Advanced Level Certification(s) 
REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE:
  • Active DoD TS clearance (SCI eligible)
