SAIC is seeking an experienced Sr. Naval Operations SME to support the Commander, Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT) Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise (BMDEX) training program as a Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Tactical Operations expert (BMD TacOps SME).  The BMD TacOps SME has overall responsibility for overseeing, planning and coordinating Ballistic Missile Defense Exercise (BMDEX) and Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) events. This is a Key position and requires comprehensive knowledge of the BMD field and the ability to complete difficult and complex assignments. It may require occasional travel in support of planning conferences and exercise development.

Please note this role is located in San Diego, CA and does not support a remote work environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

•  Develop realistic and challenging BMD training scenarios that facilitate rehearsal and refinement of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). 
• Support BMD exercise development by planning and coordinating participation of all units/nodes in a synthetic training environment that most closely meets those of real world operations. 
• Maintain SME knowledge on evolving BMD systems, technologies, threats, and TTPs to ensure introduction into training scenarios. 
• Work with the Tactical Training Group, Pacific Technical Team to ensure training architecture will enable attainment of Navy/Joint training objectives.
• Support military mentoring and assessment of participants by providing detailed evaluations of participant performance based on NMET/JMET conditions and standards during exercise execution.

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement:

• Minimum Secret Clearance required; ability to obtain Top Secret SCI clearance.

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, no specific discipline. There is no tradeoff of education for experience.  Neither additional degrees nor higher degrees can supplant the minimum experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting shipboard BMD watch-team training, or recent experience conducting BMD exercises, training or operations.
• Qualified as an Aegis BMD Watch Officer

Desired Skills:

•  Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Weapons Tactics Instructor (WTI) designation desired.

 

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
