SAIC in support of our Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) team has an immediate need for a Senior Systems Engineer to act as our Next Generation Missile Warning Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) Space Team Lead with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) Space and Ground systems. This person will lead a team of personnel supporting the acquisition of a multi-billion dollar set of Geosynchronous and Polar OPIR remote sensing satellites used to identify threats globally to the US and our allies. This position is located in El Segundo, California.
Major duties of the position include:

Leading the efforts of technical personnel to provide effective systems engineering and integration support to Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Sensing Directorate programs and customers

Ensuring effective integration of Next Gen GEO (NGG) spacecraft and Next Gen Polar (NGP) spacecraft with Mission Payloads (MPLs), Auxiliary Payloads (APS), Launch Vehicles, interim ground systems, and objective Future Operationally Resilient Ground Operations (FORGE)

Coordinating NGG and NGP integration and mission performance requirements for acquisition planning elements across the SSC Space Sensing Directorate

Applying lessons learned from managing similar space system efforts to ensure successful planning, development, production, transition to operations, and sustainment of the Next Generation Missile Warning programs

Interacting with contractor and government leads to ensure that all system and interface requirements are consistent and valid across the NGG and NGP programs and the Space Sensing Directorate

Supporting the customer in defining, capturing, and maintaining the technical, schedule, and cost risks throughout multiple programs’ lifecycles and developing risk mitigation courses of action and assessing impacts of risks and proposed changes

Developing acquisition-related briefings, plans, papers, and other documentation in support of SSC Space Sensing Directorate decision making
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree is required. BS in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical, Communications Engineering (technical), Math, Physics, or similar

Active TS/SCI Clearance
-
14+ years of strong, demonstrated system engineering experience with space, ground, operations and sustainment segments of a DoD or NRO program with a proven delivery record

Candidate should have experience with Space systems (especially at SSC), OPIR systems, ground and space system acquisition, and system engineering experience

Experience with requirements and interface management, risk management, change boards and change board environment

Ability to provide a wide variety of technical analyses and program management support to a government customer

Experience writing and delivering technical documents and briefings
Desired Qualifications:

Master’s Degree is preferred

SBIRS-specific experience highly desirable

Digital Engineering Experience, particularly in MBSE systems
Target salary range: $195,001 - $205,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
