JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Naval Business Unit, in support of the Defense and Civilian Sector, currently has a career opportunity for a Maritime Fires Training Analyst to provide training program analysis and action officer support to Tactical Training Group Atlantic (TTGL) as a fleet training SME.

Training SMEs are highly-skilled persons with knowledge gained over years of experience at senior levels. They promote greater information sharing for staffs and stakeholders. They provide realistic as well as reliable, consistent support and well-developed recommendations to various audiences in training and real world events. They will maintain the integrity of the training objectives, and maintain a knowledge base that is consistent with the requirements that cover the full spectrum of the listed Functional Area duties.  SMEs serve as the catalyst for developing and evaluating requirements.  They provide the expertise and insight to support programs and leaders at all levels, including very senior levels, civilian and military sectors. They are experienced subject matter experts in their fields of expertise.

The ideal candidate for this position will have recent experience using JADOCS in an operational environment and familiarity with Joint Fires; JADOCS and fleet synthetic training; tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP) for Fire support, and maritime operations.  In addition, he/she will have excellent public speaking, presentation, and time management skills, as well as at least six years of applicable Training SME experience in:

  • Conducting fleet training analyses to identify gaps, training needs, and solutions
  • Developing and modifying training event/exercise scenarios and curricula
  • Delivering training in person and/or online
  • Developing training curricula
  • Managing training projects
  • Designing custom training to meet Fleet and Joint/Partner Nation training objectives
  • Executing the duties assigned to an exercise control (EXCON) Fires Cell in support of Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) and Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) training events. 

Specific Functional Area duties include:

  • Assist with curriculum development, academics, and instruction related to the Maritime Fires Course (formerly Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System [JADOCS] Course).
  • Perform basic operator and system administrator functions on JADOCS, an integral part of the academic course for training fleet users.
  • Utilize/operate C4I systems (e.g., Theater Battle Management Core System [TBMCS] and JADOCS) in support of exercises/events and daily tasks.
  • Support the Fires Cell in support of FST and LVC training events.
  • Provide feedback and/or assessment of exercise results, including assessment of Navy Mission Essential Tasks (NMET) in the area of Integrated Fires during regularly scheduled Fleet Response Training Plan (FRTP) events (e.g., FST) and other exercises/events, as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree and Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Active military duty experience including recent tour of duty using JADOCS in an operational environment, preferably U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
  • 9 years of general training analyst and Functional Area experience (13 years in lieu of degree will be considered); see detailed duties above.
  • SME in Naval Command and Control of Air Operations Doctrine and TTP.
  • Experience in Joint Airspace Controls, Joint Fires Support, and JADOCS training.
  • Experience in use of MS Office (e.g., PowerPoint) products.
  • Must possess proven written and verbal communication skills at the junior management and senior executive level, and be able to act independently and manage time effectively.

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience on a Strike Group or Numbered Fleet Command staff or equivalent DoD staff in a position involving JADOCS and associated system operations.
  • Experience at the senior instructor/evaluator level with JADOCS support and operations involvement with all aspects of JADOCS configuration and practical applications.
  • Experience as a Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) operator.                              
  • Familiarity with strike, air, and amphibious operations.
  • Familiarity with the Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP), Fleet Response Training Plan (FRTP) and Fleet training policy documents, including theFleet Training Continuum (FTC).
  • Recent experience in Navy or Marine Corps exercises and exercise/event planning.
