Description

The Splunk Developer/SME is responsible for the architecture and development of the lane health service (LHS). The LHS will monitor, report, and act on issues detected on devices deployed throughout the country supporting a government agency. This person will work with the lane health service team to help refine Serilog generated logs into actionable alerts, build ITSI Dashboards and Glass Tables, and integrate with other applications such as ServiceNow and Ansible.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Defining strategy and design around data collection, aggregation, and summarization processes
  • Experience with reviewing, analyzing and coordinating requirements for ingesting auditable and actionable events into Splunk
  • Assisting with log development, data ingestion, and data searches
  • Establishing queries to identify issues with geographically disperse equipment
  • Develop visualization dashboards and indicators that identify anomalous activities
  • Enforcing best practices related to summarizing and querying data
  • Assisting with plugins and various integrations
  • Develop statistical behavior models, and provide support for the development of machine learning approaches

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • 9 years of related experience or more
  • 6+ years of experience with Splunk minimum
  • Certified Splunk Developer highly preferred
  • US citizenship required and ability to obtain DHS Suitability

Required Skills:

  • Sophisticated understanding of the Splunk search language
  • Working experience with Splunk ITSI
  • Experience with using and creating Splunk Apps
  • Knowledge of application log technologies such as Serilog
  • Experience creating Splunk reports based on large datasets
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and responsible contributor
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity with Splunk HEC
  • Experience on software development teams following the Agile Scrum methodology
  • Experience using Splunk to monitor the hardware and software health of thousands of systems
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools: Atlassian JIRA & Confluence and MS Teams
